What’s the character of stainless steel?
The corrosion resistance of stainless steel decreases with the increase of carbon content, therefore, the carbon content of most stainless steel is low, the maximum is not more than 1.2%, some steel Wc (carbon content) even less than 0.03% (such as 00Cr12). The main alloying element in stainless steel is Cr (chromium), only when the content of Cr reaches a certain value, steel has corrosion resistance. Therefore, stainless steel generally Cr (chromium) content of at least 10.5%. Stainless steel also contains Ni, Ti, Mn, N, Nb, Mo, Si, Cu and other elements.

Stainless steel is often divided into: martensitic steel, ferritic steel, austenitic steel, austenitic-ferritic (duplex) stainless steel and precipitation hardening stainless steel according to the structure state. In addition, it can be divided into: chromium stainless steel, chromium-nickel stainless steel and chromium-manganese-nitrogen stainless steel according to the composition.
Stainless steel is the abbreviation of stainless and acid-resistant steel. The steel that is resistant to weak corrosive media such as air, steam, and water or has stainless steel is called stainless steel. The steel grade is called acid-resistant steel. Due to the difference in chemical composition of the two, their corrosion resistance is different. Ordinary stainless steel is generally not resistant to chemical medium corrosion, while acid-resistant steel is generally stainless.
What can stainless steel be made of?
Stainless steel orthodontic brackets; stainless steel powder metallurgy electronic parts, stainless steel power tools, air conditioner refrigerator compressor parts, stainless steel sensor parts, cotton loosening machines, textile machines, crimping machines, industrial sewing machine parts, office machinery, etc.
What surface treatment can Modo Rapid provide?
For Stainless steel, we usually do surface finishing as below:
For manual processing, after the prototype of the stainless steel parts is formed, the appearance of the sample parts will have some burrs and excess parts at the corners. The craftsmen will smooth them with sandpaper to make the appearance of the aluminum alloy parts smooth and delicate.
Laser engraving is to use laser technology to knock off the paint on the appearance of the sample, so that a part of the sample is transparent.
Oxidation, that is, anodizing treatment, is the function of electrolysis. Due to the poor corrosion resistance and low hardness of the oxidation formed after treatment, it is rarely used in the process.
Wire drawing is to draw a thin line on the appearance of the aluminum alloy. Such treatment will make the texture of the sample better.
Modo Rapid currently has 28 high-speed CNC milling centers, the processing accuracy can reach 0.05 mm, and the tool can be automatically changed during processing. The processing efficiency is very high, so you do not need to worry about the problem of not being able to deliver on time. The processed products Wide range and reliable quality, covering vehicle parts, precision shafts and other miscellaneous parts in the watch, electronics, automobile, toys, communications, office supplies and other industries , fixtures, special knives, etc., excellent products and services, so that our products serve many companies and industries at home and abroad, and have won unanimous praise from our customers.
Stainless Steel Finishing Options
We provide many surface finish services for custom stainless steel prototypes.
1. Matte finish
If you don’t need any aesthetic end uses, then your custom stainless steel parts would not been processed further. Some designers may just need prototypes, but the beautiful appearance is not important. Therefore, matte finish is a ideal choice.
2. Brushed finish
Like a barbed brush across the surface of stainless steel, it leave smooth scratches. However, its effect will be different if all parts come from batch to batch from the same supplier or different supplier.
3. Mirror finish
As its name, Mirror finishes are highly reflective as we polish stainless steel. By this process, we can hide surface damage and enhances appearance and consistency. Mirror finishing can improve corrosion resistance.
